 Alan Ross has wide experience in  development of Strategies, Action Plans and projects and in establishing monitoring frameworks to ensure their effective implementation  He is a recognized leading international expert on Road Safety issues and has advised multilateral develoment banks , UN regional Commissions , Aid agencies and governments in benchmarking and in the design, implementation and monitoring of Road Safety Strategies, Action plans and initiatives in over 45 countries around the world.  He is also a very experienced project  manager with particular expertise in design of benchmarking frameworks to assess compliance with desired standards or best practices  (all sectors) and in developing monitoring frameworks and performance indicators to ensure effective implementation and delivery of agreed outcomes and impacts  (all sectors).

He helped establish the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) and was its Technical Director during its first year of operations until its office was established at the International Red Cross. He was also the ADB road safety adviser on the 10 country ASEAN regional road safety project and has  been providing intermittent advice to the 10 countries since 2004 . He  also assisted ADB  to develop an internal action plan to mainstream road safety into its operations and to improve ways to include road safety into its economic evaluation of its  projects . He is currently providing road safety advice  to  European Investment Bank (EIB ) and has been assisting them to develop their internal road safety action plan to improve road safety in all their operations and activities and to strengthen road safety capacity and staff knowledge within EIB  

He has a long history of international advocasy in  road safety and particpates in regional and Global efforts to improve road safety in the developing world.

 He is the author of several  international guidelines and manuals on road safety action plans and safety engineering  and one on the  design and monitoring of aid funded  projects..
